A philosopher, author and mentor often quote to me “Remember that you are not supposed to quit when you are faced with temporary defeat”.And yes I agree and thats why I am back at it again.
I was livid yesternight watching the hapless gunners being hulled over like a sack to a cart by the In-form Hull city. I had my own reservations about the game and still listening to previews of Phil Brown(hull’s gaffer) on telly saying he wasn’t afraid of the mighty arsenal at the emirates did not help either.He went on musing that being the assistant to former gunners’ tormenter at Reebok stadium,Sam Allardyce ,He knew that He has to play direct football, take advantage of the corners and no let them any space to play their passing game. And He did! Infact, He insisted that he wont play with the usual five man midfield. Wenger, on the other side, was nursing bruises on truths inflicted by the prentetious Platini and hence never paid attention to Hull.

I am amazed by this team.Whats with Wenger ? Surely I don’t understand this man.I think he’s becoming more sinile by the hour.pardon me fellas but He is. How can we concede three goals from set pieces (corners) and we win a triple share of the same and not capitalise.Play the moron in Eboue on the left flank, a sissy who should’ve followed reyes to spain, a dude who cant score and try to insist the pairing of cesc-denilson is his new charm from his over-rated bag of tricks.Wenger needs a slap on his face.He is unbecoming in his arrogant nature.When you say you don’t need to add experienced players to the squad,I expect you to win such games.Because you will surely insult us when you take us to the bridge where no one dares cross with totts like these.worse still,the kop will bury us and let me not mention what the theatre of dreams can do to your ego.

I am beyond words in trying to understand what an emotional wreck and as a matter of speaking , idiot in Gallas has in wearing the team’s armband.The guy doesn’t have a clue what is happening at his back line.Most of his troops are experiencing with the latest hairdos instead of practising defending set-pieces.Gentlemen, We know very well the African Young Footballer of the Year ,Alex Song Has more Composure, Grit and confidence to play in such a game in place of denilson.A kid who I still insist should be in the reserves.Wenger has made us start creating heroes from unproven youngsters who haven’t earned their stripes and are not yet worthy of their salt.

Cesc is out of sorts and he needs to be benched!( and play who?..oh yes Wilshire..LOL.!.) his legs are already done so early in the season.Viera said after our game with Newcastle that arsenal needed a general in the midfield and I agree..but wenger has diaby and ramsey whom he gave the flamini shirt no. So i guess he’s ok!BULL!

Porto is coming home and I hope nasri is back for this game.I suggest we give Song a chance.We need steel and not skill in the central midfield.but those are just my thoughts.I still think also that emirates trophy cabinet be donated to the arsenal ladies team as they are the ones sure of filling it up this season.I still hold the idea that we don’t sell our souls to this overly-flattered Frenchman and close our options with tried and tested gaffers like Otto Hielzfield , Roberto Mancini and frank Riijkard.Wenger just celebrated his 12th anniversary at arsenal by a whacking with a team that last beat arsenal in 1915.that a shame by any other description! I know he’ll say that we are only 2 points adrift of the league leaders and hence no need to panic..heard all that before!Get me some bloody trophy as I am already waned out of your “belief” stale songs!

Kenya’s Harambee stars are at it again this weekend !

The boys take on Namibia at the Moi International sports centre on Saturday and the tickets are out.The last time we played at home was againist the Mugabe boo boys and we showed them the real Kenyan way of the 12^th man that wins that wins the game.

To be honest I haven’t been following the world cup qualifications to know if we win where we will be or who is the leading goalscorer,or which group we are....better still,who makes the subs bench.Dude!!! and I dare say that I am a fan!! Shame .Why? Incase youre wondering, why am i so hard on my self? Answer? Because I know the arsenal’s next game starting line up...yup..shame on me..and you too!

But who cares ?I know that we’ll do it again.BEAT ANY OPPONENT THAT COMES TO KENYA!

Adebayor madness

I'm really disappointed with adebayor's attitude. 31 goals in one season, yes, is great but for him to get a 100% pay rise just after that is not too justified...45k£ is reasonable. if he scores another 31 goals in the coming season put him up to 60k etc etc.

Talking of Roque Santa Cruz: I'd say not a bad replacement should Adebayor choose to leave.

Comparing stats from wikipedia:

Adebayor (24 years): Appearances: 48 Goals:30 Assists:5
Roque (turning 27 years soon): Appearances: 42 Goals: 23
Assists 7.

With the excellent Arsenal supply line, he (theoretically) should be able to score many goals. He's a good finisher. Adebayor & Roque are both the same height too.

His stats @ Bayern are not all that though.

Germany vs Spain

Cesc was my man of the match for Spain vs Russia with Arshavin, for all the hype largely anonymous.
I didn't get to watch Germany vs Turkey, but from what I've read, they were rather lethargic and only managed to win in the last minute of the game.

Germany vs Spain on sunday should be an interesting one. I'm rooting for Spain mostly because they have not won this tournament for such a long time. I hope David Villa will be fit for the game, but Cesc clearly provides a different outlook to the Spanish team.

EURO CUP

Russia look rather impressive. Arshavin's going rate must have doubled at least.

Spain finally overcome their hoodoo over Italy. Fabregas cool with the last penalty kick, but the real hero was Casillas, who dived the right direction each time.

Turkey pulled another one out of the hat. I wonder how they'll fare against Germany.

Germany looked very efficient against Portugal. 3 chances, 3 goals. Ronaldo seems to play much better for Man U than anywhere else. I doubt he'll be able to climb the heights of the last season if he moves to Real Madrid.

Tempers flare up. Ends up with a yellow for Tevez. and red for Drogba. So predictable!
Now Chelsea are in trouble. But its only 5 minutes to go to penalties. This is what you get when you have two English sides in the final. They have to fight.

Lots of cramp around :) Carvalho and Cole -- and Terry.

Anelka, being relatively fresh wins a free kick for Chelsea in a good position. Drogba range.

Drogba has also been rather anonymous since hitting the post earlier in the game.

98 Minutes: Anelka coming on for Joe Cole. I guess Chelsea are going to 4-4-2 now. or even 4-3-3 depending on where Kalou ends up.

Essien was revving up a shot as Chelsea looked to break. Cleared for a corner which comes to nothing.

96 Minutes: Joe Cole is becoming more and more influential for Chelsea. But he now has cramp.

Chelsea very nearly take the lead as Lampard hits the post. A promising counter attack from ManU, but chelsea manage to intercept.

Now the physical strength of Chelsea might begin to tell over extra time.

ManU were better over first half, Chelsea were better over the second so 1-1 is ideal at this time but we must have a winner today.

FULL TIME: 1-1

Last chance for united. But Makelele clears the cross. A second Ronaldo cross fails to be met by anyone.

90 Minutes: Looks like extra time today.

Joe Cole nearly has a chance on goal after a Ferdinand fails to clear but goalkick. It was a dangerous clearance as Ferdinand's boot was very high.

87 Minutes: Scholes is off, Giggs on. Record set as Sir Bobby Charlton watches.

Joe Cole provides a great cross. But Drogba can't connect properly.
The nerves are getting to people, as the game comes to a close. Lots of mistakes.

Man U give the ball away from the goal kick in midfield. Chelsea fail to take advantage.

84 minutes: Vidic commits an unnecessary foul on Drogba. A good chance for a cross.

Ballack with what must have been the worse shot of the day. Giggs looks to be warming up.
Tevez lets fly from distance, but just wide. No substitutions yet.

79 minutes: Now is a good time to goal. Petr Cech has not been busy this half. Malouda delivers after Ferdinand slips, but Drogba can't convert. van der Sar has had more to do this half.

Drogba with a snapshot and hits the post with van der Sar beaten.

Chelsea claim a hopeful penalty, after Malouda tripped at the crucial moment. Not given. Now a spat between Evra and Joe Cole.

Manchester United look to have gotten back into the game. Joe Cole manages to stop Ronaldo and win the ball as well. The game is more or less balanced now.

74 minutes: Ronaldo dances round a couple of Chelsea defenders and is lucky to get a corner.

Looks like a good time for changes, especially for Man U since Chelsea seem to be growing more dangerous with time. But Chelsea just block a goal bound shot for a corner. Makelele is down injured though - Tevez looks to have been the suspect. Foul off the corner so nothing doing there.

67 Minutes: Trouble for Man U as Ferdinand looks to be suffering from cramp. He just manages to clear what would have been a killer pass, and goes to ground after that.

64 Minutes: A tricky free kick after a foul on Drogba comes to nought. Carrick clears. Chelsea still looking very strong. A corner for chelsea, Terry beats van der Sar but the ball goes wide. Another corner after Joe Cole's pass to Drogba is cut off.

Tempers are getting frayed. Ballack the latest one.
Free kick - Hagreave is agrieved still - escapes a yellow card. An opportunity for Chelsea but a poor cross.
57 Minutes: Chelsea seem to be in the ascendancy - Ballack has space to measure up a shot which is wide. Chelsea look much better this second half.

Essein (from a right back position) suddenly creates for himself space to have shot, but it's on his weaker left foot. The game is getting better.

Man U suddenly make up with Ronaldo splitting Chelsea's defence, but Evra wastes the pass.

Chelsea seems to have started stronger. A bit of a scrappy start, not unlike the first half, with lots of stoppages for fouls. Joe Cole is livid after being denied what appears to have been a corner. (Yes he suddenly appeared)

Second half coming up - should be interesting

Some half time comments. Cubes is waiting to see someone get a red
Chelsea seem to have woken up. (What Bundi calls the 10 robots of chelsea)

HALF TIME

Carvalho yellow card makes it 2-2 on the cards.

44 Minutes
GOAL Chelsea were getting back into the game as the half draws to a close. A lucky break for Lampard whom you do not want to give space in the box. 1-1. Of all Chelsea players whom I'd want to score, Lampard is one of them due what he has gone through over the last few weeks.

A Ballack free kick goes over, after Ferdinand had to commit a foul outside the box. Ferdinand is mad at his midfield, he gets a yellow.

A risky back pass which chelsea get away with. Man U are passing the ball through chelsea with some ease.

34 minutes: counter attacking move has Rooney picking Ronaldo for a cross. Peter Cech makes a terrific double save. We truly have a game

33 Minutes: Great save from van der Sar. Somehow Ferdinand crossed to Ballack

32 Minutes: 65% possession Man U. Drogba is very quiet. I have not seen Joe Cole play

30 Minutes: Chelsea seem to have gaps on their wings, allowing Manchester United space on the wings to cross, another ball comes in.

27 Minutes: chelsea suddenly look dangerous, but Ballack lashes over. The football has finally started

26 Minutes: GOAL Did I say boring - Ronaldo appears conveniently to score the opening goal. Wes Brown with a Beckamistique cross. Cech rooted to the spot.

So far its rather boring and scrappy. Nothing quality.

23 Minutes: Vidic nearly puts the ball in his own net (Had it covered though) Chelsea's first corner on 23 minutes

20 Minutes: No goals. no shot on target. Makelele and Scholes decide that headbutting each other is fun. Both get yellow cards (illogical i think). Makelele somehow doesn't seem injured

10 Minutes. No goals, no shot on target. Boring (tsk) I want goals. I want beautiful soccer. But anyway this is to be expected as both sides will be cautious

Champion of Europe

Man U are definite favourites.

I enjoyed Messi's game - even when not at 100%, he's quite a handful. He could be next years World/European player of the year, now that Ronaldo looks to be easy favourite for both of this titles

Looks like a potential repeat of Saturday's Man U vs Chelsea game in May. But I wouldn't rule out Barca or Liverpool pulling a fast one. (especially Barca)

Down to the wire: English Premier League

I think Chelsea are now the guys to really watch out for.

Arsenal have a rather small squad, and thus have been spread rather thin. Ever since Eduardo's nasty injury, they have struggled in the premiership and are drawing games they should be winning. The theory I have is that they lost these games last season, this season they are drawing them, and next season they (should be) win them.

Man U had a hard game against Derby with some quarters claiming that Ronaldo's goal was offside. I didn't watch the game though so I can't say. They have a large talented squad, and Ronaldo is already my pick for world player of the year.

Liverpool are hitting form, but they are too far off the pace to win it. But they should secure 4th Place. The up coming Merseyside derby should be very interesting though.

Chelsea are grinding out results. After 6-1 on derby they ground out a win at Sunderland - a place where I thought they may struggle.

So who will win the EPL this time round. I don't know. I know whom I want to win it but in order of probability: Chelsea, Man U then Arsenal.

Whoever manages to win their remaining games of course will win it. But the chances of doing that are rather slim.. Still you never know..

Analysing the December games

My Part 1 analysis ended with 12 games played by Arsenal, 13 by Man U

From Arsenal games till the end of the year, they had the following games

H Wigan 2-0 comfortable
A Aston Villa 2-1 Aston Villa were really really good
A Newcastle 1-1 lots of signs of fatigue
A Boro 1-2 - only loss in the league which capped the end of a tiring period
H Chelsea 1-0 did not get to watch this but was told it was quite a sizzler.
H Tottenham - 2-1 Arsenal not at their best and Tottenham greatly improved meant that the gunners struggled to win.
A Portsmouth - 0-0 most boring game - no comment
A Everton - 4-1 thrashing - a game of two halves truly. Still cannot explain how Everton capitulated in the second half after dominating the first 30 minutes

During this period were 5 away games and 3 home games. A total 17 / 24 points gained.

In total 10 Home and 10 Away games.

Since then, they have played West Ham and Birmingham at home and dropped a further 2 points.

I'd said that if Arsenal won their 8 games in December, they would win the league. So its still up for grabs now that they did not.

The effect of losing Kolo Toure and Eboue remains to be seen and AW doesn't seem to want to buy anyone.

Chelsea

I have not watched alot of Chelsea this time round :D but from the look of things they are grinding out results without necessarily playing the best soccer. Cannot rule them out of the title race just yet.

Buying Anelka. A smart move going for this footballing nomad. Despite losing 4 players to the African Cup of Nations, they ought to remain on course.

Manchester United

I watched the 6-0 drubbing of Newcastle; an example of how to demolish a team, and how not to play soccer especially after losing your manager..

I'm tipping Cristiano Ronaldo as the next World Footballer of the Year and/or European Footballer of the year especially if (somehow) Portugal win the Euro Cup in June/July. Absolutely sizzling this time round.

They would be favorites for the EPL too, and a serious contender for the Champions League too.

Liverpool

are stuttering. 12 Points behind Arsenal and Man U albeit with a game in hand. I would rate their chances for the title extremely low, remembering that they still need to play the other members of the big 4 still.

So 16 games to go and 48 points up for grabs (or for dropping :) ) by May.

Arsenal perched at the top : End of Part 1 - Arsenal analysis

Phase 1 of the season is over. 12 games have been played by Arsenal and they lead the table on goals scored with a game in hand (Away against Newcastle) over Man U.

Lets break it down:

H Fulham 2-1 The team was still getting used to playing together and Lehmann didn't help things early on
A Blackburn 1-1 Lehmann's rubber hands - the bugger
H Man City 1-0 Man City despite all their attacking prowess came to play with 10 men behind the ball
H Portsmouth 3-1 quite impressive
A Spurs 3-1 This is when the team began to really gel
H Derby 5-0 Everyone was doing this so nothing really out of the ordinary
A West Ham 1-0 Quite impressive i must say - considering that Arsenal lost both home and away against them
H Sunderland 3-2 They learned a thing or two on what not to do when 2-0 up
H Bolton 2-0 Their patience bore fruit, with Bolton's physical and highly negative approach
A Liverpool 1-1 Ought to have won it
H Man U 2-2 Two thoughts:
- Arsenal were abit nervous in the first half, abit of inexperience, Man U people insist that their celebrations were somewhat overboard. I disagree. Anyone who scores an equalizer after going down by a goal so close to the end of the game would cheer with as much enthusiasm)
- The away game - they will have learned quite alot by then so lets not assume that Man U will roll over them - experience out of the window)
A Reading 3-1 Hmm who was away really. Arsenal really needed to be patient though. Should have been more.

Games In total - 7 Home; 5 Away - The fixtures have somewhat very slightly favoured Arsenal (its just 1 game difference really), it can be argued, though in games against top 4 teams home advantage does not really count.

6 Points dropped from a total of 36 available.

An average of 0.833 goals per game (could improve on this)

24 Points up for grabs. The trickiest stretch is the Chelsea Tottenham Portsmouth Everton bit. The Newcastle game is the one in hand. RVP should be back by the third game.

Player to watch - I would say Cesc, but also watch out for Adebayor - I think from last season he really picked up his game over December.
Player I would want to see improving - Adebayor's finishing needs a bit of work still. Eboue disappoints me most of the time.
Player I would like to see play more often - Diarra. Full stop.

Lets reserve judgment till Dec 29. where they will have played 20 games - 10 home and 10 away.... if they are still top - that will be very great....
and if Arsenal win these 8 games they will win the premiership IMHO.

Now we understand why Fabregas wanted that potential suspension out of the way as soon as possible... Better miss out on the easiest looking tie of the 8.

EPL Weekend Summary

Man U, continued their recovery to form with a 1-0 away win thanks to Vidic. Everton must have been disappointed though.
Liverpool's Rafa Benitez opted to tinker against Portsmouth and was rewarded with a goalless away draw, which would have been worse had Kanu converted his spot kick.
Arsenal somehow failed put the game beyond Tottenham in the first 10 minutes of their North London derby, before Gareth Bale scored from Tottenham's first real threat at goal. Arsenal stepped up the game, and would have scored several goals, and conceded at least two, but for Kolo toure's long foot, and Bent's 'bent' foot. Cesc scored a fabulous goal to give Arsenal the lead in between a Adebayor double (His second goal would have made Henry envious). - this was the game I watched hence the extended commentary..
Chelsea had a goal disallowed rather controversially against Blackburn. Mourinho is now demanding a public apology from the assistant referee who ruled the goal as invalid.
Heskey is out for six weeks after being in sizzling form over the last week or two for club and country.

Midweek games

Portsmouth again look to be a thorn in ManU's side after holding them to a 1-1 draw; this despite losing Sol Campbell and Lauren to injury during warm up. Seemed to be a rather heated game with both sides ending the game with 10 men. Chelsea look to be entering a vein of form winning 2-1 at home to Reading - apparently Mourinho 'now understands' why Manchester United had such a hard time with Reading.
Tottenham have their work cut out for them in their bid to break into the top 4 after losing 1-3 at home to Everton. Apparently Martin Jol has been summoned to explain what's happening. Man City and Newcastle might be teams to watch out for. It's early in the season though.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Liverpool won away against Sparta Prague and Toulouse respectively. Arsenal had a bit of a tough and physical battle but came away 2-0 winners (which would really boost their confidence), and Liverpool won 1-0 thanks to one of their less prominent summer signings.

I'm looking forward to this weekend's games (.. GTV installed :) ). More on these later.

Continued: New English Premier League

Arsenal managed to save some blushes after Lehman made a potentially costly mistake. Lehman is a mzee.. Wenger says that he was the happiest man in the dressing room at the end of the game. I didn't get to watch this game though.

Chelsea were made to work for their opening win. If it wasn't for some suspect goal keeping, especially for the winning goal, things might have been different.

Man U are now playing. I am following the game online. 0-0 at half time.

I think I'm getting me some GTV :). I opted to delay subscribing to see what would be shown on NTV and DSTV.

New English Premier League

I'm told its called the Premier League now, not Premiership (like what's the difference)?

This season looks quite close to call, though Manchester United and Chelsea would be most people's initial bet. Liverpool wiht their lavish spending would be interesting though from the first 20 minutes of their game against Aston Villa, they may need some time to gel. Arsenal are an unknown force - will wait to see how they play against Fulham. I suspect AW is waiting to see how his young team cope in the first few games to make a decision on whether or not to bring in new faces. Back to 'How to watch the games'. I'm watching the Liverpool on NTV, but I think I may have to get me some GTV @ KES 2750. I don't watch too much movies, media so DSTV's 50+ channels don't appeal to me. I just need MPIRA :)

Seems that there's a race for Mariga's signature. Helsingborgs have snubbed a bid for Mariga from Portsmouth apparently - that's according to Sky Sports.

Other clubs are reportedly interested: Ajax, CSKA Moscow, Lille and a few others.

Wasn't the best soccer match I have seen. First half was very cagey. Liverpool had a few pportunities in the first half. Pipo Inzaghi's first half stoppage time goal off Pirlo's free kick was an interesting twist to the half. Second half was more open. Kaka's incisive pass for Inzagi's second goal provided the moment of brilliance that changed the match.

Kaka I think could take the next World Player of the Year this time round. Of course there's ManU's Ronaldo. But it's too early to say.

Let's wait for next season now.

Liverpool vs AC Milan

My wish came to pass - a repeat of this final from 2 seasons ago :).

I doubt it will be a goalfest as such ... but you never know.

Liverpool close down their opposition very well, though Kaka Mbweha has the ability to find space about anywhere.

The key players: for Liverpool will be Gerrard, Reina and Kaka, Gattuso for AC Milan.

Maldini might play - mzee wa kazi kweli.

It's a tight game to call..
though I will go for an AC Milan win.

I just hope it's not going to be a dour affair like Liverpool vs Chelsea or the FA Cup final between Man U and Chelsea.

FA Cup Final

Both teams seem quite depleted due to injuries - especially Chelsea.

Chelsea will be out to salvage some pride. ManU will be out to prove who's boss in England.

Should be an intriguing game. I only hope it's nothing like the Chelsea vs Liverpool UEFA Cup semi where I fell asleep before halftime.

I think ManU should shade it.

Seems that if Kenya was ranked more favourably in FIFA's country list, we could potentially have much more players playing in the gravy train that is the English Premier League.

Apparently Bolton Wanderers have joined in the hunt for MacDonald Mariga, joining Portsmouth who are rumoured to be ready to pay 250 000 Pounds for the highly rated player. He currently plays for Helsingborgs FC with Swedish star, Henrik Larsson and has established himself as a key player in their squad.

Manchester United vs AC Milan was quite something!

Milan started badly with Dida making a costly error in judgement that gifted ManU an opening goal after just 6 minutes.
ManU upped the tempo after that, looking to see if AC Milan could withstand their fast wingers in Giggs and Ronaldo. However, AC Milan are not joint top winners of the UCL with Real Madrid for nothing as they seemed unfazed by the deficit and continued with their calm approach.
Kaka showed why he alongside with Ronaldo are regarded as the top players in the world currently, by easing past Heinze in the ManU defense and placing a well taken goal. Kaka then took full advantage of two ManU players colliding while going for the same ball and placed the ball underneath van der sar for his 9th UCL goal.
From that point until the hour mark, it looked like AC Milan could always score when they wished. AC Milan veteran Paolo Maldini had to leave the game at half time and Gattuso seemed to have picked up a foot injury and had to leave. This seemed to create more space in the centre of the Milan defence and a moment of brilliance from Paul Scholes allowed Rooney to make it 2-2.
Milan seemed content to hold on for the draw but an uncharacteristic blunder allowed Giggs to pick out Rooney on the right who took it first time for a superb goal
One of the best games I have seen this year. It almost felt like the final :)

Chelsea vs Liverpool

On current form, I'd favour Liverpool. Chelsea are still to lose at home this season. Tottenham somehow blew a 3 goal lead against Chelsea in the FA Cup at Stamford bridge this season.
Chelsea have several players on yellow cards. The form of Liverpool's midfield will be key.
Chelsea however have that never say die attitude such that you can never write them off... even if they are 3 goals down. Same applies to Liverpool too.

Champions League Quarter Finals

Man U are my favourites to win the Cup this year, followed very closely by Liverpool after their near perfect win against Roma yesterday.

Roma looked beyond AWEFUL, and ManU were at their ruthless best, exploiting every weakness of the Roma defence. Man of the match for me - Carrick - his goals were absolute class. I wonder why SAF is so eager to get hold of Owen Hargreaves - he'd sit on the bench.

Chelsea produced a remarkable come back against a Valencia team that really should have won. Schevchenko to the rescue after Valencia's Morientes had put Valencia ahead. Then Essien with a late winner.

Barring an unlikely comeback by PSV against Liverpool (they need to win 4-0, etc), there will be a guarantee of an English side in the Finals, as chelsea will meet the winner of Liverpool-PSV.

Bayern Munich have a slight edge over AC Milan in the 4th game, having drawn 2-2 away in Milan. Both sides are hugely experienced in the Champions League. Kaka will be the key for a Milan win. It should be an intriguing game.

3 teams (most likely) out of 4 teams from the English Premiership in the semi's is a first - I honestly can't remember if it has happened before. This used to be the preserve of mainly the Spanish league and sometimes the Italian league.

I expect an English side to win it this season. Next season, I suspect the Spanish will be back with a bang - but that's looking too far into the future.

AC Milan I think will go through and probably Chelsea.

The rest are dicey:

Liverpool need to avoid injuries, and put the ball in the net more often (ask Arsenal, they know how painful that can be). PSV will not be making mistakes as Barca did. Liverpool however (despite conceding the lone goal) looked strong against Barca.

Roma are looking good currently and ManU are lacking strikers and it looks like Larsson may not stay on. This could be a very interesting contest.

Chelsea have had their share of trouble but things are looking up. But currently Valencia (and Sevilla) are the form teams in Spain.

Overall, it is too early to start predicting which of the 8 will go on to win it as there's no clear favourite.

Chelsea 2 - Arsenal 1

Quite a game.

One of the best I've seen - apart from the last 5-10 minutes of normal time.

I didn't blog my opinion of this game - but I'd already given Chelsea the win.

Arsenal started really well, Walcott scored a classy goal - reminds me of Thierry Henry's kind of finish - there's definitely more coming from this kid.

Drogba's first goal was marginally offside - he got flagged later on from a similar position. However in soccer, one day you get those, the next day you don't so there's no point dwelling too much on such - even if they have the tendency to alter a game.

Arsenal really should have put the game beyond Chelsea in the first half but for outstanding stops by Peter Cech and defending by Carvalho.

Second half, Chelsea saw more of the ball (I don't agree with Mourinho's assessment that they dominated the second half) - it was more of a 50-50 with Chelsea's experience and strength showing towards the end.

I was really worried about John Terry's accidental kick on the head by Diaby. Hope it's not too serious. Diaby apparently got injured in the same incident - though I think he felt it more emotionally than physically.

Arsenal's attacking and threat was reduced with Diaby and Traore's substitution. And with no Clichy or Rosicky on the bench, the right side pair of Hleb and Hoyte didn't provide much attacking threat when played on the left.

Mourinho's introduction of Robben in the interval was a masterclass - as Makelele was ineffective in stopping the maurading youngsters. Robben ensured that they had much to think about by keeping them busy attacking. He also provided the pass that led to Drogba's second. I feel Chelsea need to keep Drogba fit if they are to catch ManU this season.

My assessment.
Chelsea won the cup, barely though. Arsenal's youngsters however have made their point. An outfield team of less than 21 years average age started the game. The entire squad cost less than Schevchenko I believe. History however will show that Chelsea won the Carling Cup. History will also show (I believe soon) the emergence of a young classy Arsenal side.

The other small thing (not so small though) - Toure really shouldn't have lost it at the end. He was the captain. I think Adebayor wasn't the culprit - Eboue was. There'll be quite a number of suspensions coming soon. I wonder what would have happened if John Terry and Lehmann were on the pitch :D

Review: FA Cup - Bolton vs Arsenal

One of the most intriguing and entertaining games that I have watched in a long time.

Arsenal really should have closed the contest within 90 minutes, while Bolton hit the post twice, but really looked vulnerable at times with Arsenal failing to score from a host of chances, including a penalty and Adebayor clear on goal, in addition to possibly Baptista's worst first half of a game in Arsenal colours.

Nothing really controversial about the result though, on the balance of play and the chances created, Arsenal probably deserved it more than Bolton.

Bolton though are a very good side, and can play good soccer. They missed Kevin Davies up front alot though.

Arsenal will now need to recover from 120 minutes of soccer as they play in FA Cup 5th Round against Blackburn, who lost 2-3 away to Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA cup yesterday, on Saturday at 1230 GMT.

Focus: Arsenal's perceived inconsistency

Seems to me that Hleb and RVP play an integral part in Arsenal Winning games. Also important is player freshness.

Kevin Davies and Abdoulaye Faye are out of this tie with injuries while Abdoulaye Meite calf problem and could miss the game

Hleb and Ljunberg back in squad are back in the Arsenal squad, but Lehman and Thierry Henry will be rested. Djourou will start despite suffering a nasty nose injury against Wigan. Gallas and Eboue are still nursing injuries, with Robin van Persie out long term and Senderos suspended.

I think resting Henry is a good idea, considering his contributions overall, over the last few games. I expect Cesc also to at least start on the bench as he has looked rather tired over the last few games. Rosicky also might be rested for the first half of the game.

Bolton could struggle without Kevin Davies, who is a critical part of the team, Faye's presence in the centre of the park would have been a major boost for them.

Arsenal will need to have a winning mentality to beat Bolton who have been their bogey team. Bolton's forward line is as good as any, with Anelka and possibly Diouf leading the line.

This is a tricky one to call, but I think Arsenal will shade this one.

Bolton and Arsenal both won 2-1 at home to Fulham and Wigan respectively, with Arsenal leaving it late (yet again).

Wigan: On the strength of their performance against Arsenal at the Emirates stadium, I do not expect Wigan to go down this season. They displayed alot of character, skill and resilience.

Lots of Penalty Controversy:

Was Middlesborough's penalty justifed? Wenger chose to play it down. I thought Middlesborough played well. As usual, their problem is consistency: they play well one day, and go to sleep the next.

Ronaldo seemed to have dived against Tottenham. But Manchester United thoroughly deserved that win.

Chelsea while not at their best won at Charlton.

It looks like Manchester United are not about to take their foot off the pedal. Rooney however suffered an injury, the extent of which remains to be seen.

For me it looks like positions 1 and 2 are decided more or less, with 3/4 being between Liverpool and Arsenal.

I also think it's a bad idea. Despite being regarded as 'fat' by some people, there's a reason why he was thrice named World Player of the year.

del Bosque is one of the best coaches Real Madrid ever had, and his sacking coincided with the downward slump that Real Madrid has experienced since he was sacked in 2003. - they've not won anything major since then.

Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 win over Watford - Schevchenko was singled out for praise by 'The Special One' despite not getting on the scoresheet. However the good result was tempered by a potentially season threatening injury to Ashley Cole who got stretched off, and apparently cannot walk now.

ManUtd as expected cruised to a 4-0 win over Watford. Ronaldo as usual in outstanding form. 1 win down, 11 to go - Sir Alex Fergerson had set a target of 12 wins to win the EPL

Arsenal saw off Tottenham in the Carling Cup Semi final second leg in extra time. Wenger was pleased with his young side, and has promised to field a sizeable number of them in the Final against London rivals Chelsea.

Bolton failed to make up ground on Arsenal by drawing at home with Charlton - I expected them to struggle though.

ManUtd vs Watford - Watford are facing the wrong team at a time when they'll be looking to get some points. Easy win for ManU

Chelsea vs Blackburn - Chelsea have had some easy games in the Cups but this is a different proposition. They will look to win this, since Liverpool are hot on their heels having won yesterday at West Ham. I expect a narrow win for Chelsea though

Bolton vs Charlton - Bolton will be full of confidence having recovered from their 5-1 drubbing by Boro by drawing with Arsenal at the Emirates. Charlton have beaten them twice this season so this could be interesting. Bolton to win though.

Tottenham's Ledley King has a metatarsal injury that rules him out of this game. He was hoping to be back in contention for a place. Jenas is back to the squad too.

Should be an exciting game with both sides hoping to win it. There has to be a winner today.

I expected Arsenal to win it over the two legs and they are favourites to do so. Wenger is keeping faith in his youngsters. Adebayor is bound to start since Baptista is out. Cesc may be given a break as he has played quite a number of games, but he probably will be on the bench

Jenas presence in midfield will be crucial for Tottenham who will not want to have their back line exposed by the speedy Arsenal forwards.

Arsenal's defence will need to be focussed and not concede goals carelessly. The two goals that were conceded at White Hart Lane were as a result of defensive errors.

Tottenham won 3-1 against southend (I predicted 2-0)
Chelsea won 3-0 against Nott Forest as I had predicted
ManU won 2-1 against Portsmouth thanks to Rooney's double, though they had two goals disallowed (I had predicted 2-0 to ManU)
Arsenal however drew with bogey team Bolton 1-1 (I had predicted 2-0 to Arsenal)

Schevchenko got another goal to boost his confidence and ease some of the pressure on him.
Bolton worked very hard, especially in the second half of the game to earn a well deserved replay at the Reebok stadium against Arsenal where they will feel confident of qualifying for the next round.

I'm going for home wins for all 4 games. Tottenham should have no problem disposing of Southend, despite having some tired legs amongst their ranks while missing Berbatov

This is not a good time for Portsmouth to meet ManUtd, considering that ManUtd tend to be very lethal after getting beaten. Portsmouth are a difficult team to beat though, so it could be close. 3-1 to ManUtd

Chelsea should continue their mini revival (albeit against the smaller clubs) against Nottingham Forest who'll maybe want to recapture their form of old? Schevchenko will want to score (again)

Possibly the pick of all 4:
Arsenal will want to continue their excellent run of form, and on top of that exact some revenge over Bolton. Despite missing Gilberto, Robin van Persie and Hleb, as well as possibly Eboue and Aliadiere, they should be able to win this game. Thierry Henry is slowly regaining his form, and Baptista ought to get a place this time round. Bolton had a nightmare of a game last weekend at Middlesborough and will be missing Diouf, a key player for them. Kevin Nolan confesses he's tired of meeting Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Preview: Tottenham vs Arsenal 1st Leg

Arsenal are set to field a (so called) weakened side in tonight's Carling Cup Semi Final 1st Leg.
I say 'so called' because a squad that includes Julio Baptista, Theo Walcott, Djourou - all who went to the world cup surely is not exactly weak.

Tottenham Manager Martin Jol says that he cannot afford to do the same and field a weakened side. He may swap 2-3 players around but I expect him to maintain the core of the team

I think Tottenham will want to take a great advantage as possible to the Emirates Stadium, while Arsenal's 2nd String team will want to continue with their quite impressive run. I'm sure Wenger wouldn't mind sending the same time against Chelsea if they get through.

If Tottenham play anything close to how they played away in their previous FA cup game before their 4-0 replay win, they shall be made to pay dearly.
Arsenal will have to be less porous. Despite beating Liverpool 6-3 in the previous round, they conceded 3 goals.
I expect Wenger to go for containment in the first half, perhaps an early goal, and since they generally pick up pace towards the end of each half, to try and nick a goal.
Jol will go all out to win the game at White Hart Lane.

This is a bit hard to predict. It's a 180 minute game really. I expect though at the end of it that the Gunners face Chelsea in the final.

Player to watch: Julio Baptista - after his 4 goal salvo against Liverpool, he will be eager to prove to AW that he deserves to start on the first XI

antics to keep an eye: AW seems to have regained his calm composure; Martin Jol usually doesn't do the Mourinho thing so this could be quiet on the touchlines. However these are two of the most fierce rivals in England. ManU vs Arsenal may be sizzling, but Tottenham vs Arsenal can quite easily boil over.. No Eboue starting to roll over the place though.

My verdict: Tottenham 1-2 Arsenal - Possibly close, but Arsenal may decide to have some of the heavy guns on the bench.

Chelski -Vs- Wycombe semi final 2nd leg!

The 2nd semi final in the Carling cup tournament resumes today with chelski hosting minnows Wycombe wanderers in the 2nd leg of their semi final showdown.

Much had been said and blogged about the probable anihiliation of the 2nd division strugglers when they entertained chelsea at their ground a fortnight ago.To critics' suprise, they held their nerve and showed their mettle when they battled the Russian army to a 1-1 draw.

Concerning tonite's clash, I expect Jose to field a very strong team with the likes of drogba, sheva ,essien and lampard hungry to prove a point following their weekend's humbling at anfield.

Wycombe on the other hand, will be dreaming for a parity outcome whichever the score ;1-1, 2-2, or hey even a win ;who am I to deny them that..etc .., but a 0-0 outcome will grant chelski's progress to the final due to the away goal advantage.

Jose won't accept anything but a "massive" win as any negative outcome will propell further the already - stained chelsea's publicity and you don't want to beqeuath the shameless british tabloids with an easy bait of a chelski's loss.

Player to watch: Didier Drogbah-he is yearning to increase his goal tally and earn himself the highly-coveted punditZone "Mpira" of the year award. Or so I wish..*lol

antics to keep an eye: Paul Ince and mourinho at the sidelines- They both know they are sitting on the threshold of "wonder" and "shame" respectively.

My verdict: Chelsea 4-0 wycombe - someone give me another reasonable alternatve and i will comply.

What a weekend full of drama!

I will make this article as short as possible to let the "effects" of both the losers and the winners
marinate if only for a while....No pun intended though.

The saturday's highlight was Liverpool containing chelsea to only 2 shots on targets.That is a statistic!I mean chelsea, were humbled.Jose mourinho said afterwards that his defence was to blame but please....Give Liverpool the credit they deserve, for once.Chelsea has never lost to liverpool since october 2002 and some records were broken here.Kudos to liverpool and to them fanatics,namely "sammi rafa","brayo","addie" ..dudes,this is for you. as for chelsea,hey ur still the reigning champions and wycombe will surely feel ur "revenge".

Highlight of the game:pennant's stunner!wow!

Arsenal -Man Utd, was also something.I was very "hysterical" while watching the game and Man U really showed why they are up there.Credit to Evra and rooney.they played their socks off.by the way ,where was carrick yesterday.Arsenal ,once again, played football when they were scored..they are becoming strange these guys,but to me TH , RVP,cesc,n lehmann really showed their mettle again..kudos to the goonerics!as for Man U, ur still on top and on course.

Weekend Review: English Premiership

Seems that my predictions were right :)

Home wins in the two big games. I had not predicted that Chelsea would concede two goals without reply. I had expected 2-1 to the Arsenal (though I didn't blog that - it was on my reminder as the score line :) ). An expensive win for Arsenal though, as RVP broke a bone. (Remember Rooney and Beckam?)

Anyway Arsenal have started the year on top gear. Liverpool have recovered from their Cup hiccups. Chelsea seem to have major defensive problems. I don't expect ManU to 'slow down' or lose games just because they lost against Arsenal. It was a close game. Chelsea on the other hand had better watch out, as Liverpool are now just 5 points behind them - Chelsea still need to visit the Emirates Stadium and play ManU too.

So the 'Big 4' table standings have not changed from this weekends games.

These are two teams in the premier league which no one can deny that they have the biggest following in and out side United Kingdom. Liverpool was once the darling of English football in 1970's and 80's. Though darling of many still but not as it was those days, they still have a following outside UK. Chelsea of late has gained a handful of following which is expected for a winning team.
That's bit of it but the greatest is between Arsenal and Man United. Looking back for the last 10 years since Prof took over Arsenal, Arsenal and Man United have faced each other head on 32 times with Wenger coming out victorious so far with 13 wins against Sir's 12 with the rest being draws. This is a close race between the two but the question is, will Arsene extend his run or will it be Fergie neutralizing it. It will be interesting to see how Arsene who has admitted losing this will mean we are definitely out of the championship challenge will organise his troops. On the other side Fergie will be avoiding to loose his grip on top and revenge at the same time. This brings us to another conclusion that every team will be very cautious all through and a lapse will result to a goal on either side.

Arsenal will without any doubt play 4-5-1 with Man united playing 4-4-2 with one wide player attacking almost making it 4-3-3. That is non other than skilful Ronaldo. This may work for them in getting a goal but on the other side exposing the mid-field to one of the best Mid-field architect and passer in the name of Teenager Cesc Fabregas. Man United will thus find them selves conceding more as a result than Arsenal. If Arsenal can deal with Man United's attack I see Arsenal winning comfortably at Emirates thus cutting down the deficit to 12 points thus keeping the race alive according to Arsene, myself and many Arsenal Fans.

In football, you always hope for the worst for your opponent so we will hope Man United slips further. Many Man United fans strongly believe they will win the Championship this year but its yet to be seen how they will do it inspite of being 6 points ahead of their closest opponents.

You can't afford to miss this with Arsene trying to maintain his books 100% against the big 4 and Fergie desparately wanting to revenge and win the Championship which he last won in 2003 before Chelsea came in to spoil the party.It will be a close call but I predict 3-1 in favour of Arsenal with Cesc being in the score sheet.

Jose Mourinho may have proclaimed to be the chosen one but Rafa Benitez has a way of sticking one up Chelsea's behind when they desperately need it. Recall, the Champions 2004/5 league semi finals and the 2005/6 FA cup quarter finals. Something about the two managers makes their rivalry unique. The last time Liverpool lost at home in the league, it was to Chelsea in the 1-4 loss last season. This may be their last meeting this season and it will be interesting to see who gets the last laugh.

Alot of questions are now being asked about Chelsea's transfer policy and the role of some players in the squad. This season, goals have been hard to come by for Chelsea and Didier Drogba has emerged as the leagues most prolific striker with 14 goals out of 66 chances. In the same squad lies one of the most ambitious forwards; Frank Lampard with 8 goals out of a whooping 105 chances. Drogba's performance on Saturday will be decisive, he has been Chelsea's rock this season netting winners in 5 out of 15 games and thrice he has been the decider in drawn games. If Jose has been dissapointed by players in his squad, this two have brought him much joy.

For Liverpool, Carragher will have his hands busy with Drogba and that leaves a major vulnerability in the Liverpool defence - pace. Save for Finnan and Carragher, the back four are terribly slow. Jose will want to give Schevchenko and Robben as many chances to exploit the right flank for launching quick attacks into the box. To cope, Riise will need the help of an extra man, forcing the Reds to either sacrifice a central midfielder or the attacking left wing. It would be ingenious if Rafa opts for Fabio Aurelio on the left hence neutralising any threat from that flank. Otherwise Hyppia will be sucked into assisting the fullbacks and leaving spaces for Lampard and Ballack to fill.

While it's easy to point out Liverpools defence as their greatest weakness, it's important to note that both teams have conceded an equal number of goals in the league so far. Liverpool's problems still remain in taking the most of their chances. With 392 shots and only 36 goals while Chelsea have scored 41 out of 367 of their chances. It is not a lack of trying, it's a lack of ideas. Once inside the box, the Liverpool forwards dont seem to have a plan of putting the ball in. While players like Lampard take the path of least resistance and bang the ball forward, the Reds' forwards tend to pass it around looking for the best positioned player. Chelsea wont be giving Liverpool space on the box and Rafa had better plan the attacks meticulously.

Keeping the pacy Chelsea forwards away from his box will be Benitez's priority unfortunately he has no holding midfielder to count on. Xabi and Gerrard will have to ensure control of the game while waching for a Chelsea break from the fast fullbacks. With Makelele out, Robben has a higher chance of starting too and that gives Chelsea a chance of moving at a faster tempo. It's one game none of the managers wants to loose and Rafa may be conservative when chasing this one. I wouldn't be shocked if he played 5 across the middle now that Zenden is back just to reduce the chance of conceding from a counter attack and to give Gerrard more dominance.

My Verdict: 0-0
Liverpool to dominate the game, Few chances for Chelsea especially in the dying minutes.

Arsenal, the "last" of the big 4 in standings has accrued 7 points during their encounter with the pool, Man u and Chelski.It beat Man U, Liverpool and drew with Chelski.

Chelsea, the 2nd has accrued 5 points. It drew with Arsenal, Man u and beat Liverpool.

Man U , the 1st, ranks the third with 4 points.lost to the Arsenal, beat Liverpool and drew with Chelski.

Liverpool, the 3rd, is at the fourth but not the least ,an underdog, and has accrued 0 points.it got beaten in all 3 encounters encounters. But they never walk alone..ask their fans.

NB: The perking order does not necessarily reflect the writer's opinion and so to speak wish, of how the premiership should finish come may...well,unless stated otherwise.I'm guided by facts.

The Gilberto Factor

Arsenal have scored 43 goals this season in the league and seven of them have come from Gilberto Silva. The 'invisible wall' is match decider. He currently ranks third in the teams top scorer's table and has shown great character as a leader in Henry's abscence . Many will recall the 2004/5 season as probably the worst season for Arsenal when the 'invisible wall' suffered an injury just after an unbeaten 2003/4 season of consistent football. Sunday's game at the Emirates stadium may hinge on the lack of his prescence in that game too.

Despite being unbeaten at the Emirates, there have been some really close encounters and more than once the Brazilian has saved the day. Not just by ensuring the defence sticks together but also going forward to assist in attack and during Sunday's game against Manchester United, the gunners will definately miss his solidity in midfield. His abscence will leave Fabregas, Rosicky and Flamini (the probable 3 central midfielders in a 5 man midfield) with their work cut out. Despite not netting in the league this season, Fabregas has had a hand in 10 goals so far and United will single him out as the greatest threat.

United on the other hand have had not only the most successful defence, but also the most successful attack this season. This can be attributed to a strong midfield with Christiano Ronaldo contributing 13 of their 52 goals in the league so far and assisting in another 6. Ronaldo is not the only major contributor: The pairing of Michael Carrick with Paul Scholes has had some handsome results especially in protecting the back 4. Considering that Arsenal's Lehman has had to make 102 saves while conceeding 18, Van der Sar has only had a hand in 86 and conceeded 16.

On the frontline, it will be difficult for Arsenal to tell where United's goals will come from, this season, their goals are spread closely across Rooney, Ronaldo and Saha. If he has a hand, Giggs or Park Ji Sung and Henrik Larsson will also be something Arsenal will have to think about.

With Van Persie a doubt, the safest bet for Wenger will be to attack. He will avoid as many shots as possible hence keep the ball in United's half for as long as it takes. Moving the battle to midfield and prefering an attack to a siege would take United's back four by suprise and probably gift them a couple of set pieces. Vidic has collected 5 yellow cards while Scholes has had 6 between themselves they have comitted 50 of the 232 fouls so far with Rooney and Carrick comitting an equally huge share. Fabregas will be a prime target, the skillful lad has suffered 40 fouls so far. It's where and when he falls that could be decisive in this game.

My Verdict: 1-2
Arsenal to dominate the game and score from a setpiece, United to score from the box and from a counter attack.

Did Rob Styles cost us Gilberto or Gilberto Cost Us Himself

On Sunday we will have a clash which will probably be very vital to weigh Professor's sentiments about the title. No doubt it will be important to win against ManYoo at Emirates given that they have bragged so much about breaking records. ManYoo spoiled our unbeaten run on 25th October 2004 and they gave Chelski a beating after along period without a beating not long than gunners offcourse but the second best Run. We will need to be at our best to beat them but now the question is, will we miss Gilberto, and why? Did Styles *mess* us up or Gilberto Did. To me it its not necessary to blame Styles given the way Gilberto reacted and just infront of the ref. At the same time giving Savage a red card too would have been of no use because Gilberto would have gotten it before Savage anyway. Am simply saying that Gilberto *messed* up knowing how how his presence will be required in the Midfield.

The Brazillian World cup winner is generally very cool and Savage with his experience of receiving Red cards knew exactly how to provoke him. Though he pleaded with the referee as it was argued, that is not important because there is nothing you can do when the referee's left hand is in the pocket. What am there fore saying is that Gilberto should have seen it coming because no doubt he did not react as a result of pain but provocation from Savage.

If he stayed calm and remained a gentleman as always, ManYoo for sure would not have Indicated that they will be 9 points if Chelski is beaten By Pool. This might be positive though because they must be saying, "Their Mid field rock is not there" without knowing the Ruthless "Ray Palour"(Mattheu) will be out to prove a point. Wenger must be ready now though no doubt absence of Gilberto must have made him spend some sleepless nights. But as usual someone in training must be doing something extra-ordinary so we might not miss him also. I will support the manager irrigardless of who will be the Anchor man against ManYoo...If we happen to miss Gilberto, then I won't blame Rob Styles but Gilberto though as always will support a gunner.....

This is unbecoming on my part.a collosal error in mine eyes,an unprecedented career blunder to one, Arsene Wenger.

Gooners are yet to come to terms with the departure of heavyweights in the like of Paddy Vieira, Dennis the "magician" Bergkamp, Solman, Cashley,Pires and unbelievably Arsene wenger wants also to release Lauren with the same zeal.I wonder how they will feel later after lauren's departure.

I believe i dont share many a common sentiments with die-hard-its-wenger-or-nothing goonerics but people what's wrong with the picture here? Is it the Arsene has a repellent if not petulant ideologies of his players when they clock the famouus "three-O"read:30 yrs.

Lauren turns thirty on friday,having struggled beyond the odds to come back from a life threatening knee injury which ,understandly wenger said ;vervbatim"He(lauren) is a hard boy.His recovery and determination to regain full fitness is incredible" .A few weeks later,He says Lauren is surplus requirement in the arsenal youthful team.

Many claim Arsene is rebuilding but to me He is foolishly exposing his young backline,whose , age average is 22yrs to possibly one experienced force in Mohammed Kolo Toure in unchartered waters and this could proove catastrophic and tragic in the long run.Mr Wenger should know better.

Last season run to the CL final with barcelona wasn't all smooth sailing defensively.A makeshift leftback Matheiu Flamini was forced to play in an unsual left back position ,and did tremendously well,but if you can recal his ,"inexperienced,not-fully fit" subsitute in the 28th minute of the Villareal 2nd leg semi-final teammmate;Gael Clichy made a school boy error in gifting the "yellow submarine" a lifeline ...>>Where we can all recall Jensational heroics in denying Riquelme a place in the history books.

Long,boring ,story short>>Lauren is being sought after by Portsmouth,West Ham,Newcastle,,Bolton and now Spanish league leader Sevilla,Valencia and French champions Lyon for his invaluable signature. Could they all be wrong in signing him?I think not.DEFINITELY NOT!

Kenya's Minister of sports,Hon.Maina Kamanda has always had issues with kenya football federation.

But hopefully after this "postive meeting" between the kenyan delegation that met with FIFA, I, sincerely hope that this government-KFF relationship that was fraught with political ramifications will be given a clean bill of health and our soccer players and the clubs will accrue the most ,if not , all the benefits that this grand gesture from Zurich have handed to us.

It is vital to mention here that, in the statement, Fifa renewed its encouragement to all Kenyan clubs to register with the Fifa-recognised leadership of the KFF by the January 21 deadline, so as to ensure the proper re-launch of a national league that adheres to Fifa’s internationally acknowledged principles and regulations.

Kenya's Soccer Problem is NOT money related.

I think we have the wrong people managing soccer. Look at the delegation that went to Zurich lately and came back with 140M FIFA fund - it's largely the same people. No new faces as such are there.

I would like to see IMPLEMENTATION of WELL THOUGHT OUT and FEASIBLE STRATEGIC STRUCTURES and PLANS that will make the private sector think seriously about advertising by sponsoring a soccer team. I'm sure 140M is a small amount compared to the kind of sponsorships, endorsement deals for individual players and marketing inflows that can be achieved if structures that work are implemented.

As in the general economy, we are not where we could realistically be as a result of the lack of STRUCTURES.
