ARSENAL VS MAN UNITED ALWAYS THE BIG ONE

Vs
These are two teams in the premier league which no one can deny that they have the biggest following in and out side United Kingdom. Liverpool was once the darling of English football in 1970's and 80's. Though darling of many still but not as it was those days, they still have a following outside UK. Chelsea of late has gained a handful of following which is expected for a winning team.
That's bit of it but the greatest is between Arsenal and Man United. Looking back for the last 10 years since Prof took over Arsenal, Arsenal and Man United have faced each other head on 32 times with Wenger coming out victorious so far with 13 wins against Sir's 12 with the rest being draws. This is a close race between the two but the question is, will Arsene extend his run or will it be Fergie neutralizing it. It will be interesting to see how Arsene who has admitted losing this will mean we are definitely out of the championship challenge will organise his troops. On the other side Fergie will be avoiding to loose his grip on top and revenge at the same time. This brings us to another conclusion that every team will be very cautious all through and a lapse will result to a goal on either side.

Arsenal will without any doubt play 4-5-1 with Man united playing 4-4-2 with one wide player attacking almost making it 4-3-3. That is non other than skilful Ronaldo. This may work for them in getting a goal but on the other side exposing the mid-field to one of the best Mid-field architect and passer in the name of Teenager Cesc Fabregas. Man United will thus find them selves conceding more as a result than Arsenal. If Arsenal can deal with Man United's attack I see Arsenal winning comfortably at Emirates thus cutting down the deficit to 12 points thus keeping the race alive according to Arsene, myself and many Arsenal Fans.

In football, you always hope for the worst for your opponent so we will hope Man United slips further. Many Man United fans strongly believe they will win the Championship this year but its yet to be seen how they will do it inspite of being 6 points ahead of their closest opponents.

You can't afford to miss this with Arsene trying to maintain his books 100% against the big 4 and Fergie desparately wanting to revenge and win the Championship which he last won in 2003 before Chelsea came in to spoil the party. It will be a close call but I predict 3-1 in favour of Arsenal with Cesc being in the score sheet.

A very sentimental post. The score will be 1-0 to United. I look forward to the anguish on the faces of Arsenal supporters at the final whistle. With Chelsea losing today, we can express ourselves more freely tomorrow knowing that come what may, the 6 point gap will still be intact at the end of the weekend.

ManU will need players like Saha and in the starting line-up, as they'll need players who are creative and quick on their feet to counter Arsenal's teenage squad.
ManU's defence may be their undoing, what with Ferdinand looking half-asleep half the time, and Wes Brown making some rather blatant errors at crucial points in the game. But they score more than they concede, so looking forward to a fast-paced and exciting match - both teams might want to draw first blood as early as possible so neither is likely to approach the start of the game with too much caution - this should make for an exciting encounter. 2-1 to United.

Seems most of your predictions Mr Pundit were not exactly right:
1. Arsenal played 4-4-2
2. Arsenal didn't win comfortably
3. Cesc didn't score

Mwasjd, just to comment a bit of this, Cesc did not score, but the system adopted by arsenal was 4-5-1 with Adebayor playing just behind Henry. Henry was the sole striker with Adebs assisting the middle of the pack. When RVP came in, there was no change at all but the attacking options were more as he was playing on the flag. In a 4-4-2 system, the strikers move as a unit which was not the case on this. Correct me if you don't believe this...

Fergie's tactics were spot on i'd think. but Arsenal seem to have learnt ManU's never say die (remember ManU - Bayern Munich '99?)

It was a painful match for me. Any team that was going to loose this game was to loose 'like a man'. It was entertaining to the very end. I liked the way Scholes & Carrick took advantage of Silva's absence. All is not lost for us. We are still in the race. There is this time that arsenal had 4 strikers! Anyway it did pay.

correct me if im wrong supreme g.r.e.a.m but how exactly did carrick and scholes take advatange of silva's absence.to all and sundry, even the blind saw hat carrick never touched the ball yeasterday and scholes was always backtracking ,marking spanish wonderkid cesc himself.....

I'd think Arsenal would be better placed on the table if it wasn't for a few key injuries (Henry, Gallas mainly) as well as losing/drawing games that really they should have won (e.g. Sheffield United).. Man U have (most of the time) excelled in rubbishing teams on the lower half of the table.. I guess the kids under wenger are learning.

Fergie's kids have come / are coming of age (Rooney, Ronaldo etc) and really cannot be called inexperienced ..

However the goals were as a result of poor defending ... especially the second.. TH was free to set himself up to head in the goal, and in addition to that, there was Adebayor lurking just behind him, unmarked

I expect though that Man U will have no problem bouncing back.... there was no real pressure to win the game.

Chelsea are under pressure though. Liverpool just 5 points back.
